Hi, my name is Janice Smallwood-Carlton. I am a resident of Okanogan, Washington. This sweet little town is located only 60 miles south of the Canadian border approximately in the middle of the state. While I was born and raised in Okanogan County, I have lived in both Seattle and Spokane, Washington, as well as in San Diego County during the years my husband was in the Marine Corp.
The Okanogan Valley is known for the natural beauty of the valley and the Okanogan Highlands. The area is also famous for the apples and pears that are grown, as well as for the timber and cattle industries. If you want to learn more about my hometown, and the surrounding area, check out the links I have listed below.

| I am just one of five members of our household, and the only woman so I'm outnumbered. My family consists of my husband Brian, and our three sons Richard, Dennis, and Eric. The picture to the right is from Eric's graduation in June, 2001. Good looking sons, eh? Richard lives in Seattle and works at the Snowboard Connection. Dennis is farming apples, cherries, peaches, and pears; as well as owning and operating Smallwoods Tree Mendous Farms fruitstand. Eric works as a wildland fire fighter during summers and attends college the remainder of the year. Want to see more pictures of my family? Check out my online album. |

This is a hobby that my family tolerates. I have come to love quilting almost as much as breathing. In the past nine years I have made multiple quilts that I am very proud of. While my family does tend to shake their heads at my obsession, no one complains when they have nice warm quilts to snuggle under while lying on the couch or in bed. My pride and joy is my Millennium Quilt that I finished with the help of many quilters all over the world. I swapped with 96 quilters from five continents and the result turned out beautifully (if I do say so myself).

I presently teach fifth grade at Virginia Grainger Elementary in Okanogan, Washington. After many years of teaching third grade, I finally passed. :) I was a 2000-2001 recipient of a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation grant, entitled Teacher Leadership Project (TLP). I used to have a classroom webpage, but found it extremely difficult to keep up-to-date. Currently I have a goal of reorganizing and reposting my website over the coming the summer.
For some unknown reason I have become the "keeper of the addresses" for our class. We have had a great time at our reunions and hope that everyone will try and attend our next one. If you graduated from Okanogan High School in Okanogan, Washington, you'll want to visit our official website, and maybe even post a note to your fellow classmates.
